How a copywriter was made.

Fascinated by words from a young age, I was always the kid who would read books about films. I wanted to know how they used words to create emotion in an audience. I wanted to write like that.

Later studying marketing and advertising, I found my question:
Which words make people feel good about things they may wish to buy?
What compels them to buy it?

For the sake of creative writing, I studied filmmaking and theatre, wrote a play for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and earned a master’s degree in screenwriting.

Life took me to spend ten years teaching in Japan, South Africa and Australia, then I came home to get back to my passion: Telling good business stories. I dove back into learning the craft specifically for copywriting, picked up plenty of storytelling and game design skills along the way, started Pitch Black Studio in 2015, and have continued to add and hone skills since.

Now I write web pages made for Customer Experience (CX) Design with a brand story, I write content articles which incorporate human-centred SEO, Behavioural Economics and human motivation, and advertising for social media and Google. I sculpt that all together with the aim to helping your potential customers to make a good decision in your favour.

My mission: To give people voice.

So many people have great ideas that never leave their heads. They can talk about them, but until it is on paper it remains just a dream.

Good writing can bring ideas to life, making them into projects and products that people can experience and hold. I can make them real, and create a wonderful experience for people who want it too. I get them interested and motivated in what you do, so they give you a call.

So let’s fill the world with more of your ideas, made real. Give people the experience you wish them to have.

Come have a chat. I’d love to hear what’s on your mind.
